2010 Programs

The Eliot Historical Society presents free programs featuring old favorites and new topics.  Admission is free and everyone is welcome.  Programs start at 7:30.

Jan. 4 - Paul Johnson, Video of May 2009 2nd graders at the restored number 8 schoolhouse.

Feb. 1 - Connie Weeks, Homesteading in Eliot, old time farming and historical.

Mar. 1 - Donald G. Curry, of the Seashore Trolley Museum, Kennebunkport, ME, “When the P.D.Y was the way to go”.

Apr. 5 - Tom Hindle, local historian & photographer, will present history, use & care of the camera.  Members bring a vintage photo to 7PM workshop.

May 3 - Preparation, discussion of the Eliot Bicentennial.

Jun. 7 - Preparation, discussion of the Eliot Bicentennial.

July     - No Meeting, No Program.

Aug. 2 - Picnic at Eliot Boat Basin.  Bring your own food and drink.  Grill available.

Sept. 13 - Todd Goldenburg, York County resident & maker of violins will present the history of violin making.

Oct. 4  - Ray Faulkner, French & Indian War/Revolutionary War Re-enactor, “The British Soldier in the Americas.”

Nov. 1 - Presentation of artifacts by the Collection Committee.

Dec. 6 - Annual meeting & Christmas Party with a “show and tell”.  Everyone is invited to bring an item of historical interest to share.
